Create Material

Make your own cooking show. Film yourself dancing around in your underwear (actually, don't do that). Teach someone how to change their oil. Show us that crazy thing you made in Garry's Mod. Submit a public domain cartoon or movie.

Some Guidelines

There are a few things we'd like to mention that we don't particularly want and will end up getting denied by our moderators if you submit it. Please make sure your video follows these rules (these apply from this point forward, not retroactively):

  • Your source video needs to be at decent quality. Some people have sent in clips that were originally worse quality than a compressed GBStv NSV file, which ends up being pretty awful looking.
  • Audio must be at an acceptable level. Watch GBStv and then watch your clip on its own. Is yours wildly different in volume?
  • Absolutely no TV bugs/watermarks. If you're submitting a music video, it cannot say "MTV2" on it or anything like that.
  • No URL watermarks unless they were placed there by the original creator.
  • No videos that are available commercially, i.e. currently on American TV or on VHS/DVD, unless you own the rights or have permission.
  • No frontal nudity.
  • No dumbass "LOOK HOW STUPID ME N MAH FRIENDS R LMAO" videos.
  • No mainstream TV or film submissions, unless they are in the public domain, you own the rights to the work, or have written permission for us to air it.
  • Don't upload content-free videos. This seems like a hard rule to break, but somehow we've had to deny several of these. They tend to be stupid advertisements for web sites.
  • No presently-active movie trailers or commercials unless they are very unique or interesting, which will be at the mod's discretion.

1. Join GBStv

Join GBStv and get full access to our world. Once you've signed up, you can submit all the material you'd like and you may add videos to the playlist for air.

2. Convert the video files

Use our special version of NSVate to batch process your video files. DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS IN THE GBSTV PROFILE IN NSVATE. IF YOU DO, YOUR VIDEO WILL NEVER MAKE IT ONTO GBSTV. EVER. If you have technical problems, you might need a codec pack or you might want to try converting to a different file format (like MPEG-1) before converting it in NSVate (see help). Be sure to check and see if the video plays locally (with Winamp) before you upload.

3. Connect to FTP and upload material

Get an FTP client like SmartFTP and connect to ftp.gbs.tv (port 21). Your username and password are the same as your GBStv credentials. Couldn't be any simpler. When you connect you will see an empty folder; this is normal. That's your private folder where you can upload your material.

When you've uploaded your video(s), jump on GBS.tv and click the "Import Submissions" link at the top of any page.

Remember: If you have a problem or a question, read our FAQ first!
